Abbie the Surf Dog

August 1, 2010 Humane Society Silicon Valley had their 2nd Annual Music and Wine Festival. It was amazing how many people came out to support the animals. They had approx. 3,000 people come and enjoy the event. A special appearance was made by Abbie the Surf Dog an HSSV Alumni. I had the opportunity to work with Abbie doing photos with her many fans for 4 hours. She and her "Dad" Michael Uy came to support HSSV and did a great job. Abbie was such a trooper and did A LOT of photographs. It was amazing how many people came to HSSV, just to see her. To learn more about Abbie, check out her website, www.abbiesurfs.com.

Cozmo

I just went through the "Catitude" photos and noticed the only photo I had posted of my darling cat Cozmo showed off his "Catitude" and not his adorable face. I can't have that!!!

Acapulco Gold II

Shown here is an emerging bloom of hibiscus Acapulco Gold. When open it transforms as it ages. The center is a deep red. The pedals start out orange and slowly fad to a pale yellow. Just gorgeous! I wish the plant had survived the winter so I could capture some more photos of this magnificent flower.

Photo shown taken July 2009.

Acapulco Gold I

I have to face reality. My hibiscus, Acapulco Gold, did make it through the winter. I followed directions for caring for an exotic hibiscus and no such luck. All I have left is a twig and it's showing no signs of new life. I tested it for life and none was found. I bid it a fond farewell. This was my second attempt at having an exotic hibiscus and I am not going to try again for the time being. It was such a beautiful hibiscus when it bloomed (above). It even changed colors as the bloom matured. I will miss it and am proud I have some wonderful photos from last year for which I will always enjoy.

Sweet Thumper

Meet Thumper, one of the ambassador Bulldogs from Northern California Bulldog Rescue. Small for a bulldog (from what I was told) but huge in heart. Poor Thumper is recovering from a skin ailment that caused her to loose her fur coat. The loss of her coat (don't worry its growing back) has not stopped her at all. She is full of life (a little shy) and such the love. The great people from Northern California Bulldog Rescue are taking great care of her and hope to put her up for adoption soon and find her, her forever home that she so deserves.

Milk does a body good!

MacKinzie (top) and Beeza (bottom) featured in April 2010 are strong, healthy and vibrant kittens now and almost ready for adoption. In fact, MacKinzie has been adopted and will be going home soon. If you are interested in Beeza (ID #73700) contact the Humane Society Silicon Valley (www.HSSV.org).

5/22/10 update: Beeza has been adopted. MacKinzie and Beeza have both gone home.

Got Milk?

Yummy to the tummy, MILK!

Believe it or not, there is a "kitten season" and it's coming soon. Shelters are full of kittens available for adoption as the weather gets warmer. " When warm weather coincides with female cats' heat cycles, female cats go into heat and male cats come running from near and far." (www.hsus.org).

Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) is gearing up for another "kitten season". This little guy, just a few weeks old, is currently in foster care in the loving hands of Kris Gunderson at HSSV.

Spring Time

Spring has sprung!!! The trees are in full bloom and for some so are their allergies. Lucky for me, the pollen in the air does not give me to much trouble. Thank goodness!!!

I didn't have to go far to take this photo, just walked outside my door. The trees are in full bloom up and down my street. The flowers are now starting to drop to make way for lush new green leaves. The white flowers slowly drift down to the street below showering the street in a snowfall of flower petals. It's beautiful!

2 Kittens & a Puppy Photo Shoot????

On January 8, 2010 I attempted a photo shoot of 2 kittens and puppy for Humane Society Silicon Valley. It was total chaos and lots of fun. The photo shoot was a question of who was going to outlast who. I might have outlasted the kittens and puppy but they still had to much energy to get into a photograph all together (and be in focus). All was not lost. I still captured this great photograph of kitten Lacey.

Adoption Update: Lacey has been adopted!!!

Feline GQ Man

Cheeto, most definitely full of "catitude" but in a different way then Cozmo. Cheeto, unlike his brother Cozmo, will pose for the camera.

No! I don't want my photo taken.

Anyone who is a cat "parent" or knows about cats knows what "catitude' is all about. Cats have a mind of their own and don't obey. Here is an attempted photo session with my cat Cozmo. I got "catitude".
